Galway WFC ready forRovers

Galway WFC’s journey in the Bus Éireann WNL resumes when they travel to the capital on Sunday to take on Shamrock Rovers in Tallaght Stadium at 2pm.

In a welcome return to action following the break for international action, Galway have a great chance to move up the league table when they take on a side yet to bag a win this season.

And Galway will be in confident form having added another experienced campaigner to their squad. Cork player Lynsey McKey is the latest addition Galway WFC has signed before the transfer window closed on September 30.

McKey was a star player for Cork for the last two seasons and was their player of the year last season. She is expected to add firepower to a Galway attack which already sees itself as the third most productive in the league.

Manager Nigel Keady believes the international break was very beneficial for his team.

“ We managed to get in some very competitive training sessions along with a friendly match against the Irish Defence forces. This has been very useful as some difficult decisions had to be made in finalising the squad in advance of the transfer window closing.

“Shamrock Rovers have a long football history and tradition. We are looking forward to the game on Sunday. I know our girls will be up for the occasion and hopefully will be able to come away with a result.”
