THE ENGLISH cellist Raphael Wallfisch and Irish classical guitarist Redmond O’Toole will be in concert in the Druid Lane Theatre on Wednesday October 9 at 8pm.
Raphael plays a 1760 Gennaro Gagliano cello and Redmond plays on an 8-string guitar in a cello position. Raphael is one of the world’s leading cellists and this year celebrates his 60th birthday. Together they will perform works by Beethoven, Fernando Sór, Schubert, Manuel de Falla, Bach, Villa Lobos, and Rodrigo.
Raphael is one of the most celebrated cellists performing on the international stage. At 24 he won the Gaspar Cassadó International Cello Competition in Florence. Since then he has enjoyed a world-wide career playing with top international orchestras. Redmond’s repertoire features many of his own arrangements of baroque and classical music previously unknown on guitar.
