THE WORLDS of Irish trad and Latin American music join forces in an exciting way when Baile An Salsa take to the stage.
The Galway based band perform original material in Irish, Spanish, and English, with music drawing from the Irish, salsa, rumba, flamenco, and sean nós styles. They call their music ‘Salsa-Trad’.
The band also have an international make-up with vocalist Andres Martorell (Uruguay ); percussionists Alan Preims (Italy ), Frailan Moran (Cuba ), and Rags Ferguson (Ireland ); violinist Michael Chang (USA ), bassist Antonio Aguilar (Mexico ); pianist Brid Dunne (Ireland ); mandolinist/guitarist Peter Brazier (Britain ); and accordionist Ger Chambers (Ireland ).
Baile an Salsa were featured as the ‘Play Irish’ artist on Galway Bay FM. They have been played on Canadian Radio, and reached Number 2 in the Colombian Charts in February, while Poland’s Radio PIN picked one of the band’s tunes, ‘Irish Plena’, as its Song of the Week.
