TOM CHAPIN, the three-time Grammy award winning singer-songwriter, is making a welcome return to County Galway and the Baboró International Children’s Festival.
Tom Chapin will play the Black Box Theatre on Thursday October 17 and Friday 18 (10am and 12 noon ), Saturday 19 (6pm ), and Sunday 20 (5pm ). Before that, he plays The Mall Theatre, Tuam, on Wednesday October 16 (10am and 12 noon ).
Through 40 years, 23 albums, eight Grammy nominations, three Grammy awards, and thousands of live performances, Chapin has entertained, amused, and enlightened with his feel-good music for children and families.
The New York Times described Chapin as, “One of the great personalities in contemporary folk music”; Billboard wrote, “The best family artist around”; while People said, “A uniquely appealing singer of children's songs - funny, thoughtful and warm.”
In addition to his varied musical and media endeavours, Chapin also campaigns on behalf of a variety of charitable causes. He is an active board member of WhyHunger, the organisation that the artist's older brother, the late singer songwriter and activist Harry Chapin founded (as World Hunger Year ) in the 1970s. He also remains active in a variety of environmental causes, as well as efforts on behalf of music and the arts in schools.
