Ted from Scrubs @ comedy festival

THERE IS an episode of Family Guy where Peter Griffin is visiting the hospital and says excitedly “Will Scrubs be here?” One of the characters he may have in mind was Ted, played by Sam Lloyd.

Sam Lloyd is bringing his critically acclaimed one-man show, Fully Committed, to the Galway Comedy Festival, for three nights, from Friday October 25 to Sunday 27, at 7.30pm, in An Taibhdhearc Theatre.

Written by Becky Mode and by arrangement with Josef Weinberger Limited, Lloyd plays all 37 roles in this machine gun paced, hilarious, one-man play.

Lloyd plays struggling New York based actor Sam Peliczowski, with the worst restaurant job in the Big Apple - reservations clerk at a fancy Manhattan restaurant. Stuck in a basement cell he has no opportunity to meet the all-important agents/directors/casting people that frequent the restaurant, nor any chance to meet other customers, or get tips.

As well as portraying Peliczowski, Lloyd will also play the restaurant’s narcissistic chef, a snooty French Maître’d, a Japanese tourist, and Naomi Campbell’s assistant.

Lloyd was awarded Best Solo Performance for Fully Committed at the StageSceneLA awards. The play has also enjoyed critical acclaim. The Daily Telegraph said the actor’s performance was “a tour-de-force”, while The Scotsman declared it “a masterclass of comic character acting”.

Lloyd is best known for playing brow-beaten lawyer Ted Buckland in nine seasons of TV’s Scrubs. He has also appeared in The West Wing, Desperate Housewives, Malcolm in the Middle, and Seinfeld.

Tickets are available from the Town Hall Theatre (091 - 569777, www.tht.ie ); the ticket desk at OMG, Shop Street; and www.GalwayComedyFestival.com
