Theatre, music, comedy, dance, lectures, and a grand parade through the streets of Clifden, will all be taking place in the Connemara town during its arts festival this weekend.
The second week of the festival will see performances by Kaleidoscope Camino, The Amazing Apples, comedian Kevin McAleer, and a lecture with Dr Eimear O’Connor (tonight ); Eleanor McEvoy, Rob Strong and band, aerial dance performance from Fidget Feet, and a talk by Dr John Fanning (tomorrow ); street performances from Streetwise, a reading from her memoir by former Fianna Fáil TD Mary O’Rourke, and the Annual John Moriarty Memorial Lecture (Saturday ).
Bringing the festival to a close will be the Grand Parade on Saturday 28. Processional and landscape theatre company LuXe will take children and adults alike into the world of imagination with colourful dance, music, fire, and magnificent costumes. Fidget Feet will perform sections of its new outdoor aerial crane show, Firebirds during the parade. Both performances will enlist the help of Clifden school children.
This year’s Clifden Art Trail features more than 30 exhibitions of paintings, sculptures, and photography, by acclaimed artists as well as numerous group exhibitions, on display at a selection of intimate venues throughout Clifden.
