GALWAY AUDIENCES will have the opportunity to help create their own play at this year’s Galway Theatre Festival.
Decision Problem [Good Time for Questions] by John Rogers, a former software-engineer, now actor and theatremaker, will run at the Town Hall Theatre studio, on Wednesday October 2 and Thursday 3 at 9pm.
Decision Problem charts the origin, rapid rise, and possible future of computers, using a computer, a projector, and an internet connection to create a wall of video, sound, and data.
“I am always trying new ways to bring the audience into my work, allowing the audience the opportunity to collaborate in the show,” says Rogers, and his solution is that every night as part of the preshow announcement, the audience is reminded not to turn off their mobile phones or smartphone, and instead to join in the fun using Twitter and Facebook.
“We all have the internet in our pockets,” says John, “So when a show is about technology and heavily relies on technology, why ask the audience to turn off their tech?”
Tickets are €12/10 and available from the Town Hall Theatre on 091-569777 or www.tht.ie See also www.mohillian.com/decision
