Galway intermediates start the Croke Park celebrations

The Galway intermediate camogie team kick-started Sunday’s celebrations after defeating Limerick by 0-12 to 0-10 in the All-Ireland final.

It was Galway's third title at this grade since 2004 and it was well deserved after a hard-fought win over a valiant Treaty outfit.

It was a tight game from pillar to post and the sides were level on three occasions in the opening half, including half time when it was 0-6 apiece.

Galway had massive performances from Rebecca Hennelly and Orlaith McGrath, who scored four points from play, including three in the second half.

Galway led by 0-9 to 0-7 after 42 minutes with McGrath and Aoife Donoghue on target and, in such a tight game, it was imperative Galway did not to concede a goal.

As a result they looked the more likely team to collect the silverware with Galway captain Sinead Keane receiving the McGrath Cup.
