Each successful candidate is assigned a mentor. The role of the mentor is to work with each participant to find a suitable work placement where both existing skills and new knowledge acquired on the programme can be applied. The mentor will also help them implement a successful project in their work placement and support their efforts to gain employment on completion of the programme.
This programme is funded by government under the Momentum Skills programme which is investing €20 million in 2013 to provide free education and training places for up to 6,500 people.
The Customer Service Skills programme is open to those who have been on the live register for 12 months and in receipt of jobseekers benefit or allowance, or those signing on for social insurance credit for at least 12 months and actively seeking work.
The course will commence on October 7 with the training element taking place in the Menlo Park Hotel. Those interested should contact their local Employment Services Office to confirm their eligibility. If eligible they will be added to the waitlist for their chosen area. Individuals who have expressed an interest will be invited to a briefing session on Sept 26th in the Menlo Park Hotel to get full details of the programme.
