GALWAY BAND The Latchikos release their debut single ‘Off to Bondi-Junction’ and play three gigs in Galway city and county this week.
The band - actor/musician Aindrias de Staic, multi-instrumentalist Timmy Scanlan, drummer/rapper/trombonist Eimhin Cradock - play the Town House, Galway city, tonight, and perform two shows at the Clifden Arts Festival tomorrow and Sunday.
Their music is called ‘Gyp-Hop’ and mixes Gypsy, virtuoso violin, spoken word, and Gaelic beats. They have played Glastonbury, Body & Soul, Calgary Folk Festival, The Vancouver Folk Festival, and Electric Picnic.
‘Off to Bondi-Junction’ is a bittersweet track about emigration, with Aindrias’ first hand comical observations of the Irish ‘down-under’. See thelatchikos.com/home cfm
