Resurfacing works, road markings, and pay and display spaces have been installed from the entrance at Newcastle Avenue right through to the Newcastle Lower entrance.
The works were carried out by the Galway City Council and have been welcomed by Labour city councillor Billy Cameron, who had made representations for the works to be carried out on behalf of the recently formed residents association.
“Newcastle Park has been neglected in recent years due to the fact of the lack of a residents association,” he said. “With the revival of the association we have worked together with City Hall to secure small improvements. It is easier for communities to seek area improvements when a resident association is in place and active.”
