JP McMahon and Drigin Gaffey will bring the taste of Spain to Galway once again with the opening of their new restaurant, Cava Bodega, next week.
Cava Bodega will open on Middle Street, opposite Charlie Byrne’s bookstore, on Thursday. JP and Drigin are the dynamic duo who brought us the award winning restaurants of Aniar and Eat Gastropub.
Cava Bodega will be inspired by its predecessor, Cava Spanish Restaurant and Tapas Bar, but with an updated menu and some exciting additions. The varied and extensive menu offering is broken up into easy to follow categories such as fish and seafood, vegetables and pulses, cured meats and cheese, nibbles, desserts, and some wonderful suggestions for craft beer, wine, and sherry pairings.
Dishes are positioned at a price point which makes ordering more than one not just affordable but recommended, and sharing is the best way to sample a number of different dishes.
“Our new menu is local food through the lens of contemporary global food trends: Small plates of taste and texture with a little bit of theatre,” said JP McMahon. “This is the way forward for food as I see it. Myself and my team of chefs will endeavour to probe the boundaries of Spanish and Irish food in relation to a wider European context.”
Cava Bodega will seat approximately 40 people in the downstairs area, with seating upstairs for 20 people, and more seating at the bar area where 'pinchos’ will be served.
Cava Bodega will open on September 12 on Middle Street, Galway. For more information see www.cavarestaurant.ie Bookings can be made by emailing bookings@ cavarestaurant.ie
