OVER THE Edge will hold a writers gathering, with poets from Australia and Irish authors, in the Nuns’ Island Theatre on Friday September 13 at 8pm.
Australian poets Robyn Rowland, Andy Jackson, and Rachael Guy will read, as will Galwegian Orla McGovern. There will also be the launch of new books - Máire T Robinson’s Your Mixtape Unravels my Heart (Doire Press ) and Nicola Griffin’s The Skipper & Her Mate (New Island Books ).
Andy Jackson has had poems published in a variety of print and on-line journals, been awarded grants from the Australia Council and Arts Victoria, and been the recipient of an Australian Society of Authors mentorship.
Rachael Guy is a multi-disciplinary artist who makes visual theatre with puppetry. She has also worked as theatre professional for the past decade as a performer/singer and writer. Recently she has worked as an arts worker with Arts Project Australia.
Robyn Rowland has read at literary festivals in Ireland, Australia, Turkey, Austria, and Serbia.
Órla McGovern was awarded first place in the Eamonn Kelly Storytelling Competition, in Listowel Writers’ Week, and is the founding member of Moth & Butterfly, a night of Story and Improvisation.
Dubliner Máire T Robinson’s short stories have been published in the Irish Independent, Horizon Review, Crannóg, and the Chattahoochee Review. Nicola Griffin writes a column for Inland Waterways. The Skipper & Her Mate is her first book.
