National Heritage Week runs until Sunday and Ford tells us its new Kuga model has been pressed into service, touring the country visiting a selection of the 1,700 events that are taking place in the celebration of Ireland’s national heritage.
The Ford Kuga will be used by the Heritage Week photographic team as they capture both video and still photography of the wide range of activities around the country.
From dancing at the crossroads in Cork, prehistoric hunting games in Donegal, touring the tenements of Dublin city, learning about the Wicklow Gold Rush of 1795, to becoming a mini ranger for the day and exploring the wildlife of Clara Bog in Offaly… there is something for everyone to enjoy during National Heritage Week.
Peter Cutler, one of the drivers from the Heritage Week team who will be in charge of the Kuga said: “We are really looking forward to getting on the road with the Kuga to document the 2013 Heritage Week events. It is the ideal vehicle for the job as we will have a lot of equipment to transport and high tech touches on the car like the hands-free tailgate which opens by just passing your foot under a sensor will be a great help in our work.”
The Heritage Week team will be using an all-wheel drive Kuga with a fuel efficient 2.0-litre TDCi Duratorq diesel engine with 140PS. The vehicle also has great safety credentials, having been awarded a maximum five star safety rating by Euro NCAP – it achieved an overall protection score of 88 per cent, the highest for a mid-sized SUV.
