The Connaught Rangers, the legendary British Army regiment whose members were drawn from the west of Ireland and who were stationed in Galway, will be subject of a new exhibition.
The Connaught Rangers and Local Military Exhibition will be held in the Oranmore Library, Main Street, Oranmore, as part of National Heritage Week 2013.
On display will be photographs and memorabilia of the Connaught Rangers and local military. There will also be battalion orders for the first battalion of Connaught Rangers who were stationed in Firozpur, India, in 1914. It will also include the personal papers of a member of the Connaught Rangers from that time.
Photographs and memorabilia of members who served with the Irish Defence Forces in the Congo, the Lebanon, and Cyprus will also be on display.
The exhibition will be accessible during library opening hours and runs from this Saturday to Sunday August 25. It is organised by Oranmore Heritage. Admission is free and all are welcome.
