The famous Clarenbridge Oyster Festival, which takes place from September 13 to 15 this year, is to be launched at Monroe’s Live, Dominick Street, tomorrow, Friday, August 16 at 8pm.
The launch promises to be a special night of celebration with drinks and finger food followed by music from The Lofires and Escapade.
The first Clarenbridge Oyster Festival took place in 1954 and the event has gone from strength to strength ever since, playing host to many national and international celebrities, including James Bond actor Roger Moore, Top Gear’s James May and Richard Hammond, former Irish soccer manager Jack Charlton and actor Patrick Bergin.
This year’s festival promises to be the best yet, with an action-packed three days in store. Friday, September 13 will see the return of the popular ‘Fight Night’, in aid of Croí. There will be hot and cold food on offer, including the world famous Clarenbridge oyster, and live music from DJ Mitch.
Saturday, September 14, sees the main event, the Clarenbridge Oyster Fete. Featuring live music, plenty of delicious seafood and oyster competitions, this event will run from 4.30pm until late.
