THE LOFIRES are Dublin songwriters, Niall Toner Jr and Jonny Rowen and they come with a pedigree and years of experience.
Jonny was the frontman and writer with Pelvis, who toured with the Divine Comedy and appeared on Later with Jools Holland. Niall was the founder/singer with The Dixons, who had a Top 10 hit with ‘Ingrid Bergman’ in the late 1980s. He also co-founded Hank Halfhead and the Rambling Turkeys with his father Niall Toner.
The duo’s sound mixes west coast country rock with touches of Bowie, Van Morrison, and the Beatles. Their eponymous debut album has attracted critical acclaim from The Irish Times and Hot Press, and gained airplay in New Zealand, Australia, North America, and Europe.
The Lofires play Monroe’s Live tomorrow at 10pm. Tickets are €10 and are available on the door or through www.monroes.ie and 091 - 583397.
