The Denis and Cian O'Connell owned Mardocs O'Shea claimed the €35,000 Mardocs Holding Golden Jacket at the Galway Greyhound Track on Sunday.
Mardocs O’Shea and the PJ Fahy owned veteran Tyrur Lee were expected to be the frontrunners for this final, with both defending unbeaten records in the competition.
However the 6/4 favourite Tyrur Lee for once missed the kick as the trap three runner Slick Spiral came away best and led up from Mardocs O'Shea with Tyrur Laurel a close third.
Racing down the back Slick Spiral led by a length to Mardocs O'Shea, but as the pair rounded the home bend Mardocs O'Shea, a son of Go Wild Teddy and Hoffmans Ticks, set sail for home and raced clear up the home straight to win by 3&3/4 lengths from the flying Kerrydale Celt and Slick Spiral.
