GALWAY SINGER Sandra Coffey launches her debut album, Morning Zoo, on Thursday July 25 with a concert in the Townhouse Bar, as part of the Galway Fringe Festival.
The album contains the debut single ‘Mascara Girl’ which was nominated for Best Single by Music Review Unsigned. MRU also praised the Athenry native’s vocal abilities, saying “she can reach those high notes with ease. So many singers push and strain themselves to reach those heights and the results are never as pleasing. She does it without flaying about on stage, it comes naturally.”
Sandra’s inspirations are Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Blondie , David Bowie, Joan Baez, Amy Winehouse, and Stevie Nicks. Explaining the title, Sandra said:
“‘Morning Zoo’ sums up for me what life can be like at times. I’m a big morning person and even though I love mornings, life can wake you up and throw some curve balls your way. The songs take their inspiration from many sources.”
The concert starts at 9.30pm and Sandra will be accompanied by a full band. Admission is €5. See www.sandracoffey.ie
