Inverin man faces trial charged with harassing his neighbours

A 26-years-old Inverin man has been remanded in custody following his appearance before Galway District Court this week charged with harassing his neighbours.

Michael Lydon, Kilroe East, Inverin, appeared before the court in custody charged with harassing three members of the same family between August 6, 2007 and June 13 last by diverse means, including the persistent watching, besetting and following of the various family members at various locations in the Inverin area.

Lydon is further charged with threatening to kill a man at Púirín, Spiddal on June 5 last and with threatening the man that he would kill another member of his family on the same occasion.

The court was told that bail had been refused at an earlier court sitting and that Lydon had been held in custody.

Inspector Mick Coppinger applied to the court to have Lydon further remanded in custody as a book of evidence in the matter was not yet ready.

Judge Mary Fahy remanded Lydon in custody to Harristown District Court on August 8 next for the preparation of a book of evidence and she extended time for its service on the accused.
