State of the art heart checks with Pulsewave Ireland

Pulsewave Ireland offers a new non-invasive heart check which utilises state of the art cardiovascular screening equipment called BPRO, which was developed by Dr Ting of Healthstats in Singapore.

The clinics will take place on Tuesday July 16 in the Loughrea Hotel & Spa, Wednesday July 17 in the Salthill Hotel, and finally Thursday July 18 in the Corralea Court Hotel, Tuam.

Pulsewave Ireland are one of the few companies in Ireland with the state-of-the-art BPRO Cardio Pulsewave Analyser designed to detect any damage which is being done to the heart through lifestyle or diet.

At Pulsewave Ireland, the staff believe in prevention before intervention by convincing people to invest in their health now so that they can prevent illness in the future. The 15 minute BPRO screening, carried out by certified BPRO technician Jim Leacy, will accurately measure brachial blood pressure in the arms; central aortic systolic pressure in the heart; radial augmentation index which determines clogging of the small arteries and stiffening of the large arteries; and arterial ageing. The BPRO also checks for atrial fibrillation and irregular heart beats.

Cardiovascular disease is the most common cause of death in Ireland, accounting for more than a third of all deaths, with approximately 10,000 people dying each year. This includes coronary heart disease, stroke, and other circulatory diseases. The largest number of these deaths relate to coronary heart disease which stands at 5,000, with 22 per cent of deaths resulting from cardiovascular disease.

With these startling figures, research also indicates that there are additional parameters which are potentially more important than blood pressure alone at indicating if someone is at risk of a heart attack or stroke.

It also ascertains whether current medication is effective or not. The BPRO screening could save lives and is currently the cheapest rate available in Ireland.

BPRO screenings will also include a detailed report with advice on diet and health solutions, that can help enhance your cardiovascular health.

The BPRO screening is suitable for anyone who has a family history of heart disease, kidney disease, or diabetes or for anyone who smokes, drinks, is overweight, or participates in sport.
