Oranmore Railway Station to open this month

The Oranmore Railway Station is to open to passengers on Monday July 29 to serve the east of the city and county.

The station, which has a 174m platform and a 150-bay car park, will be offically opened by the Minister for Transport Leo Varadkar.

Independent Deputy Noel Grealish said the new station will be “a significant addition to the transport infrastructure in Galway” as well as a boost for tourism in the city and county.

“It will increase accessibility and provide a viable alternative for commuters, all of which is good for the local economy,” he said. “It could also remove a considerable amount of traffic congestion from the city centre at peak times
