Honour local achievers by nominating them for People of the Year award

As the closing date for nominations for the 18th annual Rehab Galway People of the Year Awards loom (tomorrow Friday ) people are being urged to name the person they would most like to salute and honour.

Ollie Robinson of the local Rehab Foundation, which are the organisers of this high profile event, says it is seeking nominations for Galway people who had contributed to their communities at local, national or international level.

“We are inviting the people of Galway, as well as business community, the corporate sector, family and friends, supporters and members of clubs, groups and organisations to nominate the person or people they would like to salute and honour and consider most deserving of a Galway People of the Year Award.

“Those are people who have excelled as leaders or made significant contributions in other areas for example sport, charity work, employment, education, entertainment, tourism, media broadcasting, medicine, research, community involvement, etc. In addition to individuals, groups, clubs or organisations, etc, can be nominated.”

He said the awards give public recognition to people who through their personal leadership, participation, courage or achievement have made an outstanding contribution to the community, or the betterment of the lives of people in their own areas in the city or county or even abroad.

He said that last year the awards captured the imagination of the Galway public and they received a record number of entries from at home and abroad.
