Galway hurling chairman, Joe Byrne, is urging all Galway supporters to head to Croke Park on Sunday in support of the county’s hurlers in the Leinster final against Dublin (4pm ).
"It is a Leinster final and the more Galway supporters there to cheer the team on, the better,” he says.
"A lot of clubs have supporters’ buses going and some clubs have three or four buses going up on Sunday with lots of children on board, which is a great initiative and fantastic to see. It is only €3 for a child's pass and it is a great opportunity for them to see Galway in action and to get to see a provincial final in Croke Park.
"It is much more difficult to get tickets and it can become a lot more expensive for families if Galway progress in the championship so Sunday is a good chance to see the team in championship at reasonable prices."
Byrne is impressed with Galway’s training and preparations since the win over Laois.
"Nobody in the Galway camp is underestimating how good Dublin are, or the challenge they represent on Sunday. They have been very impressive in the past fortnight and the win over Kilkenny will be a big boost for them. However, Anthony [Cunningham] and the management team have been working very hard over the past few months for the championship campaign and, with good Galway support there to cheer lads on, I am confident that they can retain the Leinster title."
