THE POETRY of Patrick Kavanagh will be read and celebrated in Galway at two events - one this month and the other in July.
The Patrick Kavanagh Western Association is hosting the fifth Kavanagh Days in Galway.
The first event takes place on Sunday July 30 at 2pm in the Galway Rowing Club, Woodquay. The main speaker will be journalist and author John Waters, who will deliver a talk entitled Kavanagh and His Wretched People.
Other speakers include Monaghan Association president, Peter McDonall, Galway author Máire Holmes, and the MC will be academic Dr Derek Hand.
The second event is on Saturday July 20 in the Harbour Hotel, Dock Road as part of the Galway Fringe Festival. The line-up is to be confirmed.
