Moycullen and Barna in relegation trouble

Following last weekend’s senior championship action, the teams in the relegation play-off for 2013 are Barna, Moycullen, Caherlistrane, Micheál Breathnachs and the losers of the Killererin v Cortoon Shamrocks replay.

Barna went down 0-13 to 1-7 to Mountbellew/Moylough, but they produced a more spirited display than the one in their defeat to Carraroe, and they will take some solace from that.

Annaghdown and Salthill were far too good for Moycullen and Micheál Breathnachs and both those defeated sides will have to up their efforts over the coming weeks to stay safe in the senior ranks.

Caherlistrane followed up their narrow defeat to Milltown with another one - going down 0-11 to 0-9 to a Paul Conroy and Aaron Connolly-inspired St James. Conroy hit 0-8 (7fs ) of his side's tally and young Connolly also impressed in his midfield role.

The other team to join the group of five will be either Cortoon Shamrocks or Killererin who played out a 2-12 to 0-18 draw at Tuam Stadium.

One of these five teams will be playing intermediate football in 2014.
