Galway pensioners overpaying on phone charges says Ó Cuív

Slashing the free telephone allowance has left many older people in Galway paying “disproportionately high telephone bills they cannot afford”.

This is the view of Fianna Fáil agriculture spokesperson and Galway West TD Éamon Ó Cuív who is calling on older Galwegians to ensure they are not being overcharged for phone usage.

According to Dep Ó Cuív, most pensioners are on the basic telecom package, with a line rental of €25.

“There is no need to pay such significant line rental especially if the phone is used very little,” he said. “I am urging any older person who thinks they are paying too much for their telephone to look around for better value.”
