THE BLAKE family, one of Galway’s 14 Tribes, will be the subject of a public lecture in the Galway City Museum this Saturday at 2pm.
Author Adrian Martyn will discuss the family that styled themselves as ‘The Positive Blakes’ but who were in fact notorious for their use of violence and subterfuge, such as all but exterminating the Athy family in a feud, and producing one of the most notorious spies in the Elizabethan secret service.
