Men questioned about €400,000 Tuam drugs haul

Two men were being questioned at Galway Garda Station this week after a major joint operation resulted in the seizure in the Tuam area of herbal cannabis worth an estimated street value of €400,000.

Galway Garda Station confirmed yesterday at the time this paper was going to press, that two suspects, both aged in their forties and with addresses in Galway county, were still being questioned.

The arrests were made on Tuesday following the search of a house in the Cloonmore area. The seizure was made as part of an investigation involving members of the Garda National Drugs Unit, Revenue Customs Service, and the Galway and Mayo divisional drugs unit.

The men were conveyed to Millstreet Garda Station where they have been detained for questioning under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking ) Act, 1996. Under the act they can be held for up to seven days.
