Galway’s hurling supporters are being urged to get behind their senior players as they start their 2013 championship campaign on Sunday.
Galway board chairman, Noel Treacy, is asking fans to give their “full backing, commitment and support” to the county senior management team and players in their bid to win the All-Ireland Championship this year.
His pleadings come after a request from the team management at the Galway hurling committee’s monthly meeting in Loughgeorge this week, and as a result club delegates are reported to have “pledged unanimous support for the management, team and players”.
The Galway Hurling Supporters’ Club, which is at the forefront of encouraging support, hosted an open meeting in Ballinasloe last evening in a bid to raise the profile of hurling in Galway.
