Nora Talks and Sings

THE LIFE of Nora Barnacle, the Galwegian, wife, and muse of James Joyce, will be celebrated through song in a show taking place this weekend.

Nora Talks and Sings with soprano and actress Sandra Schalks and pianist and composer Tom Cullivan, takes place in the Galway Arts Centre, Dominick Street, tomorrow at 8pm.

The show weaves 15 concert songs, operatic arias and ballads, of the kind Nora was known to sing, into a narrative thread about her life, her views, and James Joyces’ writings.

On Sunday at 3pm, the Galway Arts Centre will host another James Joyce related event when NUIG’s Prof Brian Arkins will give a public talk entitled Complex InteractionsL Joyce & Yeats.
