The career of Connacht Rugby legend Johnny O’Connor will be celebrated tomorrow evening at a special retirement celebration in The Ardilaun hotel.
The Galway native who endeared himself to supporters for his 100 per cent commitment and hard-hitting tackling, retired at the end of the season after making his 146th appearance for the province. The flanker’s career included 12 caps for Ireland and two Heineken Cup wins and premiership titles with Wasps in England.
This special celebration evening will start with a champagne reception at 7.30pm followed by a four-course meal and wine. Music on the night will be by The Beemers with a DJ till the early hours.
Proceeds on the night, including a raffle with some wonderful prizes, are in aid of the IRFU charitable trust, which helps seriously injured rugby players.
