New director for Galway Theatre Festival

GALWEGIAN AND NUI Galway graduate Kate Costello has been appointed as the new director of the Galway Theatre Festival.

Ms Costello has studied at East 15 Acting School, London, and the GITIS Conservatory in Moscow. Having obtained her MA in theatre directing, she interned with the Royal Shakespeare Company.

She later was programming assistant with the 2012 Dublin Fringe Festival and curated and produced a work from Galway at the Fringe in the Smock Alley Theatre. She also assisted Galway city arts officer James Harrold in programming and managing last years Galway Culture Night.

She has also coordinated national tours for Galway theatre companies Moonfish and Willfred.

The Galway Theatre Festival will take place from September 30 to October 6. Application forms to take part in this year’s festival can be found at www.galwaytheatrefestival.com The deadline for submissions is Monday June 10 at 5pm. All submission must be sent to Galway Theatre Festival, c/o Galway Arts Centre, 47 Dominick Street, Galway.
