Alleviate urinary incontinence with Chinese medical acupuncture

Clinically significant urinary incontinence (also involuntary urination or enuresis ) is a common and distressing symptom of a variety of conditions. Failure to store urine or leakage of urine is most common in geriatric patients but can affect all ages. In addition, patients with urinary incontinence are more likely to have faecal incontinence, termed double incontinence. Difficulty with urination control results in higher rates of depression and limited activity levels. Therefore, incontinence can have a profound impact on quality of life.

Urination is a complex activity involving nerves, muscles, the spinal cord, and the brain. Failure in this control mechanism results in incontinence. Reasons for this failure range from the simple to the complex. Injury, known as a leading cause, results in the interruption of the nerves controlling the internal urinary sphincter of the bladder wall or urogenital diaphragm resulting from trauma.

Urinary incontinence almost always results from an underlying treatable medical condition. It is treatable and often curable at all ages.

Acupuncture acupressure treatment is an option which can strengthen the sensitivity of the damaged area including a group of muscles and connective tissues of the pelvic floor; in particular, build up the power of fascia tissue behind the pubic bone and then help patients gain control over urination. The treatment is effective in improving the quality of the patient’s life.
