Galway’s youngest writers to be honoured at awards ceremony

More than 450 children who have written, illustrated and bound their own individual books, will attend the 13th annual Write a Book Awards in the Radisson Blu Hotel Galway on June 3.

The competition, which is run by the Galway Education Centre, aims to generate an interest in reading and writing among those aged between five and 12.

Some 125 schools from across the city and county participated in this year’s initiative which director of Galway Education Centre, Bernard Kirk, said would not have been possible without the commitment and enthusiasm of teachers.

This year also saw the launch of the Galway Write-a-Book website, www.galwaywriteabook.org and Galway pupils who would like to have their work displayed on the site, can submit their creative writing, with the help of their teachers or parents to Galway Write A Book for web and print consideration at [email protected]
