Inspired by James Joyce

THE TITLE of a new exhibition opening at the Norman Villa Gallery, Salthill, this evening at 8pm is: Bababadalgharaghtakamminarronnkonnbronntonnerronntuonnthunntrovarrhounawnskawntoohoohoordenenthurnuk!

The title is the 100 letter thunderclap word from James Joyce’s Finnegan’s Wake and many of the works in this exhibition by the painter and sculptor Miceál Noone are inspired by Joyce’s infamous novel.

Miceál Noone was born in Ballaghaderreen, Roscommon. He trained as a priest and worked as a missionary in Kenya during the 1970s. He now lives in Salthill Galway with his wife Kathryn and sons David and Anthony.

The exhibition can be seen as a retrospective with some early sculptures, along with some recent works on paper - a personal response to Joyce’s Finnegan’s Wake.

All are welcome to the reception. The exhibition runs until Saturday June 15. Gallery opening hours are Wednesdays and Thursdays from 12 noon to 6pm during exhibitions and by appointment.
