Approval for watermains works in Ballygar, Claregalway, and Woodford

Extensive water mains rehabilitation works in Ballygar, Claregalway, and Woodford have been given the green light by the Department of the Environment.

The approval allows the Galway County Council to carry out the rehabilitation works, which will cost more than €390,000.

The works will improve water quality for residents and businesses in these areas, as well as prevent mains failure, interruptions to supply, and address leakage and operational serviceability. It will also improve water pressure and flow and will give the county council an opportunity to identify service-pipe defects during the course of the works.

News of the approval has been welcomed by Fine Gael Galway West TD Brian Walsh who said it was part of a process to address the high volume of unaccounted water levels in the existing supply systems
