Galway city hurling and camogie club, Liam Mellows, is holding a barbecue and “open evening” at the club’s grounds at Ballyloughane, Renmore (beside the beach ), on Friday May 24th May from 7pm to 9 pm.
Non-members, members, supporters and their children are welcome to come along and see Mellows’ state-of-the-art facilities, which includes a new all-weather juvenile pitch, hurling wall, and astro-turf pitches.
Complimentary food and refreshments will be served and a DJ, fun events, skill demonstrations, training drills, face painting, and more will add to the party atmosphere. Mellows’ county stars will be on hand for a “meet and greet”.
Mellows celebrates its 80th birthday this year and with more than 600 members, it caters for boys and girls from age four up to adult level. The club was recently selected as the only hurling club in Connacht to participate in the GAA’s Healthy Club Project and various initiatives are planned to coincide with this.
