The three bed semi attracted huge interest prior to its auction, with seven viewings the first evening followed by another eight viewers a few days later. “We had an asking price of €160,000 and bidding commenced at €140,000 going all the way up to a final price of €192,000, which was 20 per cent over the asking price,” John Dolan said. “The owners were delighted with the sale result. It underpins that the demand is there from first time buyers for starter homes in this area.”
The auctioneer also noticed a lot of cash buyers and clients who had received loan approval before they viewed the house. Many of the viewers had wisely saved large deposits over the last few years, and are now in a position to purchase having renewed confidence in Galway city’s property market.
