Singing Nina Simone

JAZZ SINGER, civil rights activist, songwriter, black music icon, Nina Simone is one of the all time greats of post war music.

Nina’s classic songs and interpretations will be performed in a critically acclaimed show coming to the Town Hall Theatre, Singing Nina - The Life and Music of Nina Simone by Karen Underwood, this Saturday at 8pm.

Chicago born, Cork based singer Karen Underwood will perform songs like ‘Mississippi Goddamn’, ‘Sinnerman’, ‘My Baby’ and ‘I Need a Little Sugar In My Bowl’ supported by Erik Gullikson (piano ), Eoghan Regan (guitar ), Peter Hennigan (bass ), and Bob Jackson (drums ).

Karen has performed at Oxegen, the Guinness Jazz Festival, and the Festival of World Cultures. She also appeared in a production of The Vagina Monologues, directed by Gerry Stembridge, alongside Maureen Toal and Deirdre O’Kane.
