Residents of Melody Court in Renmore, will be making full use of the city’s buses now that Bus Éireann is to provide a daily service to and from their homes.
The new bus service is expected to begin on Tuesday August 5. It will depart the Kingfisher club at 10am each weekday morning, and return there from the city centre at 1pm.
Some residents have disabilities with a number using wheelchairs and others using mobility aids. However all Bus Éireann city buses facilitate the use of wheelchairs.
The news has been welcomed by Fianna Fáil Cllr Mary Leahy, who made representations to Bus Éireann to provide the service.
“It is vital that we ensure quality of life for our senior citizens,” she said, “and strive to provide an environment whereby persons of all abilities can live life to the full and go about their day as independently as possible.”
