Galwegians urged to have their say on Dáil electoral system

Galway people with views, opinions, criticisms, and ideas on how politicians are elected to the Dáil are urged to make their point of view known to the Convention on the Constitution.

The Dáil’s electoral system will be discussed at the next meeting of the Convention, on Saturday May 18 and Sunday 19, and its chair Tom Arnold, is urging people in Galway city and county to contribute.

“The Convention on the Constitution is a citizens’ forum,” said Mr Arnold. “It is the democratic right of all Irish citizens to choose the people that they want to represent them and the forthcoming discussion will examine the system we use to elect those people.”
