Enemies take a step up with new album

TOMORROW SEES the release of Embark, Embrace, the new album by Wicklow post-rock quartet Enemies, who play Galway next week.

Enemies - Lewis Jackson (guitar ), Mark O'Brien (bass/vocals ), Oisin McMahon Trench (drums ) and Eoin Whitfield (guitar/vocals ) - play Strange Brew at the Róisín Dubh on Thursday May 16 at 9pm.

Embark, Embrace (Heavyweight Records ) is an important release for the band. At a time when most post-rock has become stale, and Antrim’s And So I Watch You From Afar have delivered the ‘put up or shut up’ game changer All Hail Bright Futures, it was necesscary to move up a gear.

The quartet have done that with the new release. The album shows them beginning move beyond post-rock clichés, incorporating vocal chants, some sparkling guitar work, and a sense of the epic and the grandiose that is cinematic.

On Embark, Embrace Enemies have delivered on the promise they have always had.

Tickets are available at www.roisindubh.net, from the Ticket Desk at OMG, Shop Street (formerly Zhivago ), and The Róisín Dubh. To hear Enemies go to enemiesmusic.bandcamp.com
