LEND ME A Tenor, the award winning Broadway and West End hit by Ken Ludwig, is to be staged in Galway by the Knocknacarra Amateur Theatre Society.
KATS will stage this screwball comedy in An Taibhdhearc from Monday May 13 to Friday 17. Set in a hotel in 1934, it features mistaken identities, naughty intentions, looming scandal, and is directed by Colin Callanan.
Tito Merelli, a celebrated Italian tenor is making his long-awaited American debut. However a blazing row between Tito and his wife Maria, along with an excessive amount of wine, plunges the overly emotional tenor into a coma.
His minders Saunders and Max believe the star is dead. In a frantic attempt to salvage the evening, Saunders persuades Max to get into Merelli’s costume and fool the audience into thinking he’s Tito. All is well until Tito comes to and then there is hell to pay.
