Gaelic poetry and song in Aughnanure Castle

IN THE 16th century surrounds of Aughnanure Castle, just outside Oughterard, a concert of bardic poetry and mediaeval Irish harp music will be performed.

The concert will feature seventh to 18th century Gaelic poems sung by singer and multi-instrumentalist Charlie Heymann, with accompaniment by harpist Ann Heymann, a leading scholar on the construction, stringing, repertoire and playing techniques of early Irish harp, and Ancient Music Ireland’s Simon O’Dwyer on horns.

The concert takes place this Sunday at 5pm, with a second show at 7pm. Tickets are €15/12/5 and must be booked in advance through www.galwayearlymusic.com or An Taibhdhearc. A bus will operate between Galway and Aughnanure for the concert. Seats are €5 and must be booked in advance. See www.galwayearlymusic.com
