FANG ISLAND’S music is celebratory, ecstatic, joyful, and anthemic, combining the playfulness of indie-rock with the big guitar riffs and licks of classic rock.
“I am pretty ding-dong-doodily-delighted, all the time,” band leader Jason Bartell told New York Music News last year when explaining the irrepressibly upbeat nature of their music. The band also described their sound as “everyone high-fiving everyone”.
Another aspect of their sound was revealed at their wonderful 2010 Electric Picnic set, when they played a little of Thin Lizzy’s ‘Sarah’ - highlighting how the Irish band have influenced Fang Island’s harmony driven guitar work.
Dan Goldin of Decoy Music aptly noted how the Brooklyn based trio “successfully combine the lustre of indie pop with the technical eccentricities of progressive rock”.
