IRISH SONGWRITERS and composers will be celebrated at a show, from the Galway Percy French Society, in An Taibhdhearc this month.
With A Tear and A Smile: A Repertoire of Music and Song by celebrated Irish Songwriters and Composers Through the Centuries takes place on Saturday May 11 at 8pm.
The MC will be the poet, singer, and author Gerard Hanberry who will tell the stories behind the songs and the music written by Rory Dall Ó Cathain, Turlough O’Carolan, George Petrie, Tom Moore, Samuel Ferguson, Percy French, Michael William Balfe, Charles J Kickham, Sigerson Clifford, Francis Fahy, Sean Maguire, and John Sheahan.
The songs will be performed by Maeve Cairney (soprano ), Gerard Hanberry (guitar ), Martina King (harpist ), Eamon Rabbitte (fiddle/violin ), and Hugh McGrath (flute ).
