Peugeot’s iconic GTi returns to Irish roads next month.
The French carmaker says its new 208 GTi is designed to appeal to driving enthusiasts and offer a perfect blend of performance and style.
Boasting performance figures of 0-100kph in less than seven seconds and with a top speed of 230 kph, CO2 emissions are low at 139g/km. Available to order in Ireland from this May, the new Peugeot 208 GTi 3-door 1.6 THP 200bhp model will retail from €27,995 ex-works.
Standard specification on the new Peugeot 208 GTi includes 17” alloys, red painted brake calipers, twin chrome exhaust and body coloured rear spoiler, sports seats with black half leather, rear parking aid, and armrest.
The 208 has already been proven a popular success in Ireland since its launch in mid-2012. And it is the Continental Irish Small Car of the Year 2013, which no doubt has helped to increase Peugeot’s share of the small car market by more than four per cent for the year to date. In fact, the new Peugeot 208 now represents a strong 7.1 per cent of its segment.

Its arrival will reinforce the huge success the Peugeot brand has had during an exceptional history of hot hatchbacks and rally accolades.”
Peugeot Sport’s unveiling of the Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak model and its continued participation in the European Rally Championships comes hot on the heels of Peugeot Ireland’s strengthened motor sport programme.
Waterford man Craig Breen, contracted to Peugeot Sport’s Academy and currently working on the development of the new Peugeot 208 T16, was recently appointed Peugeot brand ambassador. Since February, Tipperary man Andrew Slattery has been finding his feet in the Dunlop National Rally Championship in a new Peugeot 208 R2 rally car.
And now, Peugeot says, the new 208 GTi is destined to live up to its hot-hatch predecessors to become a much coveted sports car - playful and chic and offering everyday driving enjoyment.
