GMIT has this week announced the appointment of Karen Smyth as marketing officer for the institute, with responsibility for promoting GMIT in Ireland and overseas, and managing all marketing activities.

“I am very excited about taking on the role of marketing officer for GMIT,” Ms Smyth said. “It combines my experience in both marketing and education, and comes at a time of great change in the education sector.

“GMIT offers students a great student experience thanks to its campus locations, smaller class sizes, and practical and innovative approaches to learning, and I am delighted to have the opportunity to get this message out to students, parents, industry and members of the public as part of this new role.”

Ms Smyth, who lives in Athenry, completed the Bachelor of Commerce in NUI Galway in 1994, specialising in marketing and French, and the postgraduate diploma in marketing practice in 1995.
