Kerry association seeks new members

The Kerry people’s association in Galway is seeking new members interested in maintaining their home county’s roots and cultural identity.

They are invited to attend the 27th Cairde Chiarraí AGM which will be held at the Salthill Hotel on Monday April 22 at 8.30 pm.

Since its foundation the organisation has been involved in fundraising for local charities. Its annual table quiz has become one of the most popular in the city. Twenty-five local charities have benefited from the event, including Jigsaw in 2013.

A core aim of the association is to foster and develop a sense of belonging with Kerry people living and working in Galway, caring for and pro-actively supporting them in their lives, explains Seán Ó Leidhinn.

“Galway has proved to be a natural home away from home for Kerry people with its renowned love of Gaelic football, traditional music and Gaeilge.

“Like all other voluntary organisations Cairde Chiarraí is actively seeking an infusion of new members in order that it can continue its invaluable work in a successful manner in the future. Accordingly it invites all Kerry people and people with Kerry connections in Galway interested in maintaining their Kerry roots and cultural identity to come to our AGM on Monday April 22.”
